The Big Wedding tells the story of long divorced Don (Robert De Niro) and Ellie Griffin (Diane Keaton) who pretend they are still married at their adopted son’s wedding in order to please the guest of honor, his ultra conservative birth mother. Katherine Heigl plays Lyla, Don and Ellie’s daughter and sister to the groom.

Lionsgate has acquired the US and UK distribution rights to the ensemble comedy "The Wedding" a.k.a "The Big Wedding" which Katherine Heigl is currently shooting in Greenwich, Connecticut. The studio has scheduled a theatrical opening of October 19, 2012 for the film.
Production on the tentatively titled “The Wedding” a.k.a. “Gently Down The Stream” and the “The Big Wedding” has begun in Greenwich, Connecticut. The comedy, which will see Katherine Heigl join an all star cast that includes Robert De Niro, Diane Keaton, Robin Williams, Susan Sarandon, Amanda Seyfried, Topher Grace and Ben Barnes, is scheduled to shoot throughout August producer Clay Pecorin told Greenwich Time today.
