The Nut Job World Premiere
It was a family occasion at the world premiere of The Nut Job, held at the Regal Cinemas L.A. Live in Los Angeles on Saturday morning. Katherine Heigl was joined by husband Josh Kelley, family, friends and for the first time at a movie premiere, eldest daughter Naleigh, who celebrated her fifth birthday in November.
Arriving on the red carpet Katherine posed for photographers, conducted interviews and waved to the crowd. She told reporters that she was eager to find out what Naleigh thought of the movie, "She knows a little bit about it already, she knows it's about squirrels and we get to see it in 3D today so I'm excited to see her reaction."
The Nut Job co-stars Will Arnett, Gabriel Iglesias and Sarah Gadon also took to the red carpet alongside Katherine and director Peter Lepeniotis, but they weren't the only special guests at the event! Echoing the story of the family friendly film, the National Wildlife Federation brought along a variety of cuddly critters to highlight the importance of providing a suitable habitat for wildlife, to ensure animals do not need to take food from humans to survive.
The wildlife soon caught the eye of animal lover Katherine who went over to pet some adorable hedgehogs and other animals whose cartoon personae feature in the movie. Daughter Naleigh was not far behind, looking fascinated as she examined the small spiny mammals.
BlackTree TV and the Associated Press caught up with Katherine to ask her what it was like to play Andie the squirrel in the feature, the process involved in providing the voice for her character and how she found her first animation experience!
The Nut Job hits theaters nationwide from January 17.
