On Location: The Wedding
Katherine's latest movie "The Wedding", also known as "The Big Wedding", has been in production in the Greenwich, Connecticut area since early July.
Local landmarks such as the Burning Tree Country Club, Gabriele's Italian Steakhouse and Christ Church have all featured as locations for the shoot. There has been considerable local interest in the project, attracting the attention of residents and the press in an area relatively unaccustomed to big screen movie production.
On Tuesday, August 2nd, Greenwich Time reported from Gabriele's that "paparazzi and celebrity seekers swarmed to the swank Church Street restaurant, pining for a glimpse of Robert De Niro, Diane Keaton, Robin Williams, Susan Sarandon or Katherine Heigl on the set of the new big-budget comedy".
The filmmakers chose the restaurant for interior shots of the wedding reception that is supposed to take place at a country club. "It's a privilege to have them here," said owner Danny Gabriele. "Out of all the places in Greenwich, they chose us, which was a great thing.". A cast and crew of over 100 were accommodated at the venue for the shoot.
The movie is scheduled to wrap on August 22rd and the Justin Zackham directed picture, which features an all star cast that includes Robert De Niro, Diane Keaton, Susan Sarandon and Robin Williams, is set to hit theaters from October 19, 2012.
The cast of famous faces have also been causing a buzz in the area, enjoying local hospitality and visiting a number of restaurants and shops during downtime and breaks from production.
