Lionsgate has acquired the US distribution rights to the comedy "The Wedding" a.k.a "The Big Wedding" which Katherine is currently shooting in Greenwich, Connecticut with Robert De Niro, Diane Keaton, Susan Sarandon, Amanda Seyfried, Robin Williams, Topher Grace and Ben Barnes.

The studio has scheduled a domestic theatrical opening of October 19, 2012 for the film. Principal photography on the production is expected to wrap by August 22.

The Nu Image / Millennium Films production, written and directed by Justin Zackham (The Bucket List), tells the story of long divorced Don (Robert De Niro) and Ellie Griffin (Diane Keaton) who must pretend they are still married at their son's upcoming wedding. The Griffin's soon learn acting the happily married couple is not so easy. The bride (Amanda Seyfried) and groom (Ben Barnes), and the whole family (Susan Sarandon, Katherine Heigl, Topher Grace) look on in amusement as their past, present and future unravel for all to see, trying not to kill each other in the process.

Katherine plays Lyla, Don and Ellie's daughter and sister to the groom and Topher Grace's character.

The announcement was made jointly by Joe Drake, President of Lionsgate's Motion Picture Group, Jason Constantine, Lionsgate's President of Acquisitions and Co-Productions and Avi Lerner, Founder and Co-Chairman of Nu Image.

"The Big Wedding is a charming, rollicking movie that promises to be an instant intergenerational family comedy classic," explained Drake of the film's appeal to the studio.
