Katherine called TV station Good Day LA this morning from her home in Utah to team up with sister Meg at Fox Television Center studios and make an appeal for a dog in urgent need of a new home.

The Jason Debus Heigl Foundation rescued the blue-nosed pit bull, who was orphaned when his owner, a young soldier, had to leave to serve a tour of duty overseas. Meg told the morning show presenters how the story of the plight of the playful four legged friend, who also joined her in the studio, had touched her:

During the segment, the sisters also explained the role and work of the Heigl Foundation and discussed the Compassion Revolution initiative, the organization's major companion pet program designed to directly address the pet population crisis in the Los Angeles area.

If you are able to provide a forever home for Jack the lovable pup, please contact the Jason Heigl Foundation to find out more information about the adoption process.
