Catching Up With The Dogs Of Sochi

It has been over a year since the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, where a number of stray dogs scheduled to be euthanized were rescued by the U.S. team, adopted and settled in new homes in the United States. Sports Illustrated caught up with the pups to find out how they have settled in to their new homes, including Sochi and Adler (now called Billy Bean) who were nursed back to health and through quarantine by Katherine Heigl’s animal welfare organization, the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation.

Sochi & Adler: Homeward Bound

It has been a long journey in both distance and time for Sochi and Adler, two adorable stray pups rescued by staff from the United States Winter Olympics Team off the streets of their Russian hometown in February. Thankfully, with the help of Katherine Heigl’s animal welfare charity the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation, it is a journey with a happy ending, as both dogs have been adopted and are heading to loving homes!

Health Update: Sochi & Adler

Many of you have been following the story of Sochi and Adler over the past few days and will be aware of the two pups rescued from Russia this weekend by members of the press covering the Olympics and staff associated with the US Olympic team. Katherine Heigl’s animal welfare organization, the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation recently posted an update on the health of the dogs, addressed some confusion about the transport process and answered common questions that have been received from those of you who that have been touched by their story.

An Olympic Rescue

Katherine Heigl and Nancy Heigl visited Los Angeles International Airport on Saturday afternoon to complete a very special rescue for their animal welfare organization the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation. They were there to greet two dogs that had travelled all the way from Sochi, Russia, with E! News Olympics correspondent Ali Fedotowsky, and to help find loving homes for them.
