At the beginning of last month, Katherine Heigl visited Esslingen in Germany, the hometown of her maternal grandfather Reinhold F. Engelhard. As part of her visit she enjoyed a guided tour through the historic city, an event covered by national television station RTL, who conducted an interview during her walk around the ancient streets of the town. During the tour, she made an unscheduled stop at a small hat boutique when the window of local designer Birgit Sophie Metzger’s shop caught her eye.

In Berlin to promote the release of One For The Money (Einmal Ist Keinmal), Katherine Heigl took to the ballroom at the Hotel De Rome for a photo call in front of the German press before sitting down to chat with journalists about the movie.

On Saturday, February 4, Katherine Heigl enjoyed a walk through the historic part of Esslingen-Altstadt. She was guided on her tour by Dr. Peter Kastner, Head of the Municipal Department of Arts and Culture and was joined by her mother Nancy for the stroll through the town.

While visiting Germany to promote her movie One For The Money, Katherine Heigl took the opportunity to explore her family history when she visited the small town of Esslingen, near Stuttgart last week. The town was the birthplace and home of her grandfather Reinhold F. Engelhardt who emigrated to America in the 1920’s.
