Insider: Roswell
Cast Interviews
Announcer: There are still aliens among us, and a lot of them can be
found on The WB series "Roswell." The show about teens who are half-alien,
half-human is already well into taping its second season, but a few things have changed.
Katherine: We spent so much time last season sort of developing the human
side of our characters...And this year we're sort of transitioning more into the alien
thing.
Announcer: The Crashdown Cafe is a favorite hang-out on Roswell. Food
plays a big role here, on and off the set, like when fans used Tabasco sauce to help save
the show.
Katherine: They bombarded The WB with, uh, Tabasco bottles, because it's
sort of what the aliens put on everything they eat. But it was a really clever idea and
they - a lot of them wrote little notes...on the Tabasco bottles. "Roswell's
Hot," you know, "Keep it on the air." And it was great because it...I think
it really helped. It really made a difference.
Announcer: But food isn't always a theme at Roswell. Just ask Katherine
Heigl, who was recently featured on TV Guide's cover as one of the Sexiest Stars of
Sci-Fi.
Katherine: The TV Guide cover was...it was a really great thing for me, a
really big deal, and I was really excited about it because not only was it the cover of TV
Guide, but it was also the first time that I think it really brought to mind, to my mind,
the fact that I am a sci-fi character - that I play this alien.
