Rising film and television star
Katherine Heigl, between two seasons of "Roswell", starred in the film
"Valentine" opposite David Boreanaz. In this interview, she tells us about
herself and the problems facing her series right now.SeriesTV: In the
first place, what's happening with Roswell?
KH: For the moment, we're working very hard to keep the series
interesting. In February we have to pass the test of sweeps (which calculate the audience
of a show for a specific period), and we'll see if the viewers will keep watching for the
rest of the season. If the audience isn't high enough, the show risks being cancelled.
SeriesTV: Do you think there will be a season three?
KH: We'll see next year! I think we have to be patient. Last year
everyone thought the series was going to be cancelled, yet it's still there. What counts
above all for me are the fans, and their support is important (she refers to fans who sent
thousands of letters to the WB so that the series wouldn't be cancelled).
SeriesTV: But the network supports you?
KH: Oh yes! We're lucky to have the WB on our side, and I think
they're lucky to have us. It's the ideal network for us.
SeriesTV: What can we look forward to in the future?
KH: Very interesting things! But it's a secret! No, actually I don't
know what they're going to do, because in the scripts that they give to the actors, they
take out the parts that don't directly concern the character. I don't know anything except
what concerns the character Isabel. And I think they're going to make us sign a contract
with a confidentiality clause so that no one will talk about the scenarios.
SeriesTV: Speaking of now. How has your life changed since your
participation in the series?
KH: You know, I've been in this business since I was eleven. I want to
have a real career and not just a moment of glory. I understood very early that this
choice is accompanied by, if all goes well, a little celebrity and the opportunity to
choose between different types of projects. I consider everything in terms of career, I
look towards the future.
SeriesTV: Nothing has changed, then?
KH: In fact, yes. You know, what's changed since the success of the
series, it's that when I go out, I have to pay attention that there aren't photographers.
I can't do anything in public, like adjust my clothes or kiss my boyfriend, otherwise I
risk finding myself in the pages of a tabloid. At the same time, I don't see myself as a
big star at the moment. I'm still developing my career, and can still go out without being
asked too many questions, but it's true that that's becoming more difficult. That said, I
don't feel sorry for myself, I'm not in this career to keep a low profile, or I should do
theater at the far end of Wyoming instead of being on television.
