Heigl: Model Intern Organ donation is a plot line
in this week's episode of Grey's Anatomy. For cast member
Katherine Heigl, 26 - who plays intern Isobel Stevens - the
subject is close to home.
In 1986, Katherine's elder brother Jason was killed in a car
accident in her family’s hometown of New Canaan, Connecticut. He
was just 15 years old.
"When we realized he wasn’t going to survive, the family
decided it was important to donate his organs," Katherine’s mum
Nancy says. "Jason’s heart, kidneys and eyes were given -
whatever could be used by someone in need. It was Jason’s last
gift to a world he had the greatest affection for."
