Interview

Cynthia:  Hello everyone, welcome to Later!  Now, hold on to your hat (holds up a copy of Maxim with Katherine on the cover)! My guest tonight has starred in popular films like “Bride of Chucky,” “Under Siege 2: Dark Territory,” and “My Father the Hero,” which is actually the first place that I ever saw her.  But more recently, she graced the cover of Maxim magazine.  Remember this?  You guys seen this??  (applause and hoots from the audience) Mmm–hmm. Mmm–hmm.  Wai–Wai–Wai–Wai–Wai– Wait. (shows inside pages of KH’s semi-nude layout)  More importantly...check that out.  Now, how beautiful is this girl?  Right?  Not bad!  Anyway, she’s currently starring as alien Isabel Evans on the sci-fi television series Roswell.  Take a peek at this.

(Clip of Katherine from “The White Room,”  with Michael, Tess, and Liz trying to talk Isabel into dreamwalking the imprisoned Max.)

Cynthia: She’s adorable, to say the least...please welcome Katherine Heigl!

(Katherine enters, wearing a sleeveless, pink knit top and long dark skirt.  She gives Cynthia a hug, and they sit down.)

Cynthia: (regarding Maxim) Well...you’re...you’re...is it embarrassing to have a picture like this on the front cover on a magazine?

Katherine: It sure is!  Yep...there’s no way around it, though!

Cynthia: You know...well, but you’re beautiful.

Katherine: Oh, thank you, very much.  Umm...it was nerve-wracking...the whole experience was very nerve-wracking, because I didn’t really, you know, at first...initially didn’t want to do it, and...um, I just wanted...that if it was going to be done, to be done sort of my way, and...

Cynthia: Why didn’t you want to do it?

Katherine: Um...because it’s VERY revealing, and you know, they’re gonna...they’re gonna make it as revealing as they can because that’s what they are looking for, that’s what they want...so, you know, there were compromises on all sides, but I think...I think it turned out okay and I’m fairly proud of it.

Cynthia: Yeah..  I think it...

Katherine: I don’t know how my father feels but...

Cynthia: Do ya...has he said anything to you?

Katherine: Yeah...

Cynthia: Oh, what did he say?

Katherine: It’s actually...really...because I work with my mother...she’s my manager, and so he blamed her more than me, so I came out looking pretty good. (laughs)

Cynthia: Ok, you’re old enough to know better, Mom...

Katherine:  Yeah...

Cynthia:   ...she’s not.

Katherine: Yeah! (laughs)

Cynthia: Yeah.  Well...I mean, I guess it’s hard for any father, though, kind of accepting that his little girl is...ALL grown up (turns magazine towards audience and laughing).
