5 Minutes With
Katherine Heigl
With a Drew Barrymore Scream-style departure from Valentine, we have to ask,
will we ever get to see more of this sexy Roswell babe?!
When you came on to this project, did you know you'd be first scene and out?
Yeah. That would've been terrible, "What, you cut me in the first 15
minutes?"
Were you happy with the way you died?
Yeah, it was a great death. But there was so much more blood and it was so great, it
was really graphic. Oh, that may not be so good for the kids out there, but God, did we
really milk it when we shot it. It was so good, but they had to cut it down. They had to
cut the blood and stuff, but it was great because I spent three hours of them putting the
prosthetic ... I probably shouldn't say ...
Were you trying out for any of the other roles?
No, actually, it worked out very well for me because I didn't have the time to do
anything else, because I was working and all I had were the three days to do it. It worked
out very well.
As for Roswell, do you think you'll be working on it for some time?
I don't know. I really don't know what will happen. I think we'll see another season. I
hope to see another season. It's pretty much up in the air until then.
Do you have a lot of interaction with the fans of Roswell?
We try to. I think that the Internet is the best way to interact with fans so we do
some chats occasionally and try to see what they're saying, what they're thinking through
the Internet and kind of be a fly on the wall and observe when they're in their chat rooms
talking about the show. We occasionally have them come on the set and that's really fun in
that kind of environment so they can see what goes on. Last year they threw us a big party
and that was really cool. We felt like Elvis or the Beatles.
Do you see a lot of people identifying with your character so that you have a
built-in fanbase from Roswell?
I certainly hope so. I read an interesting article today on Meg Ryan, where she said
something that was very interesting, very true. She said, "So many people look at
actors and think, well, they're thinking, 'It's about me, it's about me, it's about me',
but, in reality, acting is about you. You're trying to portray a character that people who
watch you relate to." |
