Autograph Hunting |
|
This is an extract from an article by Jeffrey
Woolf on autograph hunting. Katherine is mentioned twice - once
with respect to her appearance at the Los Angeles Comic Book And
Sci-Fi Convention on the 14th of January 2001, and again -
regarding the premiere of Valentine on the 1st of February.
Los Angeles Comic Book And Sci-Fi Convention
"The previous day, collectors fared somewhat better when they
attended the Comic Book and Science Fiction Convention at the
prestigious Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
The convention usually invites a variety of celebrities to take
part in question and answer sessions. While the celebrity guests
often take time to sign autographs as well, nothing is
guaranteed. But with rising young talents like David Boreanaz
and Katherine Heigl – stars of the upcoming horror flick
Valentine – set to make a special appearance, collectors figured
this was a good event to go on the prowl.
Unfortunately most of those who attended the show in hopes of
getting autographs left empty handed, but a few collectors did
luck out. When Katherine and David arrived, those that were
smart enough to wait outside the show at the celebrity entrance
were rewarded when the two came over and signed.
Katherine was very nice and took her time, but stuck to her new
signing policy and insisted on personalizing everything. David,
on the other hand, just signed his name before being escorted
into the show.
Inside, the two co-stars mostly did a question and answer
session and talked about Valentine. Before they left, both
actors signed a handful of movie posters that were given out
randomly to a few lucky fans. However, those were the last items
they signed for the day, as both were escorted out of the show
and didn’t sign while going to their cars."
Valentine Premiere
"But not all was lost. Luckily, the premiere for Valentine was
going on the same night, so most collectors jammed across town
to the after party, where the celebrity turnout was much
greater. Needless to say, everyone did much better there.
Despite being swarmed by a huge crowd of collectors, Katherine
Heigl walked over and started to sign. Even with all the
pandemonium around her, Katherine signed for about 15 people
before finally calling it quits." |
