Speaking to ET Canada at the press junket for the ensemble comedy The Big Wedding last week, Katherine explained that she was very nervous about accidentally hitting co-star Robert De Niro as they filmed several scenes that involved her character slapping the two-time Oscar winner.

USA Today Pet Guide Cover
Look out for Katherine on the cover of the upcoming Spring/Summer 2013 edition of USA Today Pet Guide Magazine, which will be published as an insert in the newspaper on Tuesday, May 7th.
In the interview feature, she talks about the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation and her recently launched pet product line Just One, the proceeds from which benefit animals in desperate need.

Help Ban Gas Chamber Euthanasia
Next week congressman Jim Moran plans to reintroduce a bill to the House Of Representatives that would ban the use of gas chambers as a method to euthanize shelter animals. Already illegal in 20 states due to the extreme cruelty and suffering inflicted by this inhumane practice, the bill proposes to extend the ban across the entire country.

"Used primarily in rural shelters, the gas chamber is often a small metal box, smaller than a large dog crate. Each animal is locked inside the hot metal box and then forced to breathe carbon monoxide until it suffocates. Medium and large dogs suffer the additional cruelty of being in a confined space so small that they cannot even turn around. Many pets surrendered to shelters are elderly, pregnant, or sick. These medical conditions only exacerbate their suffering in the gas chamber, " Joy Austin the director of Healing Hearts Animal Rescue writes in her article for Examiner.com.

The Nut Job Theatrical Release Date Announced
3D animated action-comedy "The Nut Job" will be released in theaters on January 17, 2014, Open Road Films announced today. The company said that it had acquired domestic distribution rights to the family film, which sees Katherine join Liam Neeson, Will Arnett, Brendan Fraser, Stephen Lang, Sarah Gadon and Jeff Dunham in lending their voices to characters in the family film.
Set in the fictional town of Oakton in the 1950′s, the story is based on the adventures of Surly, a mischievous squirrel, and his rat friend Buddy, who plan a nut-store heist of outrageous proportions and unwittingly find themselves embroiled in a complicated adventure. Katherine will voice Andie, the Nut Job’s lovely lady squirrel.
