Extra caught up with Katherine’s former "Grey’s Anatomy" co-star Patrick Dempsey at the Long Beach Toyota Grand Prix on Saturday and he spoke about her recent departure from the ABC medical drama after 6 years on the show.
Dempsey told interviewer Terri Seymour that it was "sad that she is leaving. She is a wonderful actress – beautiful, talented. She has got a couple of movies coming out and I wish her luck in those and we miss her. We’ll see, maybe she will come back next year and guest star in a few episodes – who knows…I don’t think there’s any way you can replace her."

Katherine Heigl Wants a Seventh Rescue Dog
By Kate Hogan and Paul Chi
You’d think that with six dogs and a baby at home, Katherine Heigl would be totally stressed out. But the former "Grey’s Anatomy" star is actually clamoring for a seventh rescue pup. "I’m trying to talk my husband [singer Josh Kelley] into one more right now," she tells PEOPLEPets.com exclusively. "But he is not cool with it."

Last month at the ShoWest Convention in Los Vegas, Katherine suffered a wardrobe disaster when her dress strap snapped as she went on stage to collect her "Female Star Of The Year" award. Fortunately, her blushes were spared by Access Hollywood presenter and event host Billy Bush who held the broken strap in place allowing Katie to preserve her modesty and complete her acceptance speech.
However, this near fashion disaster has had a lasting impression on Katherine, as she revealed at the ASPCA Bergh Ball in New York on Thursday evening, prior to stepping on stage to collect the organizations Presidential Service Award for her animal welfare work. "I’m really, really paranoid now after that," she laughed. "Every outfit I put on, I’m like, ‘Is it all in place?’ Scary."

Katherine Heigl told reporters at the 13th Annual ASPCA Bergh Ball in New York last night that she is learning a lot about herself and motherhood. She explains, "I’m a lot more strict than I thought I would be. I really feel like discipline and manners, a good schedule, a good night sleep and a good nap are really important. I didn’t think I would be quite so like that."
She also revealed that watching a movie or TV show involving a mother-daughter relationship has been a very emotional experience for her. "It is so gut wrenching in a way that I could have never predicted," she says. "You have this empathy suddenly – this compassion for a mother going through anything complicated or difficult with a child. It’s something that I understand now – that unbelievable drive and instinct to protect."
