Not So Ugly At The Box Office

Despite dropping from top spot at the International box office last week, Katherine's romantic comedy "The Ugly Truth" continues to perform well in foreign markets. The movie took $7.9 million from 2,275 screens in 63 markets at the weekend, elevating the overseas gross to $81.3m. Domestically the movie has taken $89 million to date, giving a total box office of over $170 million worldwide.

Weekend debut highlights came from Greece, which delivered the number one spot with $535,000 from 52 screens and South Africa’s number one of $280,000 from a similar number of venues. The movie also added $2.5m in takings from Germany for second place and $8.5m after two weeks and it ranks third in Brazil on $4.3m a month after release.

The latest data also puts the film on $1.6m in first place in Austria, $1.7m in Switzerland, $945,000 in fourth place in Holland, and $1.4m and first place in Taiwan, all after two weekends. Elsewhere, The Ugly Truth has amassed $4.2m in Mexico after six, $1m in Belgium after three, and $1.3m in Venezuela after four weeks.
