Jason Heigl Foundation Donates To Rescue Program

Los Angeles Animal Services has announced that The Jason Debus Heigl Foundation has generously gifted funds to help benefit their New Hope adoption program. The goal of the donation is to assist rescue organizations who partner with the organization to get animals adopted.

In a press release the Department of Animal Services stated that the donation from the Foundation will help New Hope Partners by paying the spay / neuter fee for any pet a New Hope Partner rescues from the City's six public Centers, beginning Friday, October 9, 2009. The gift will be sufficient to fund 450 pet adoptions.

"We are thrilled to receive this gracious gift to help our New Hope Partners who daily work very hard to help our most needed pets. Annually, our New Hope Partners rescue more than 4,700 pets. Through their extraordinary efforts, they provide medical care, foster homes and ultimately a new family for so many deserving, homeless pets," stated Kathy Davis, Interim General Manager. She further added, "In these desperate economic times, The Heigl Foundation has provided a wonderful opportunity to help both our pets and our Partners. We are extremely thankful for their generosity."

The Heigl Foundation also recently funded the Pits and Pals Spay Day at the South Los Angeles Animal Care Center, providing free sterilization surgeries to 100 dogs and is sponsoring the Pits and Pals Spay Day at the East Valley Animal Care Center (Van Nuys) on October 17, 2009.

The Jason Debus Heigl Foundation was founded by Nancy and Katherine Heigl in memory of a wonderful son and brother. The focus of the Foundation is to increase awareness of inhumane treatment of animals, support non-profit rescue efforts, assist homeless shelter animals with rescue and medical treatment, fund and encourage free spay / neuter clinics, place rescue dogs and cats in loving homes, and educate the public about the horrors of puppy mills and dog fighting.
