Katherine is set to star in a new Columbia
Pictures and Lakeshore Entertainment production
called "One for the Money" it was announced today.
It reunites her with both studios following the success of "The
Ugly Truth" which earned more than $200 million at the box
office.
The film is based on the Janet Evanovich's
best selling novel of the name same and is one of a series of
books based around the character Stephanie Plum, the 16th of which will be published
this summer.
Katie will play Stephanie, an unemployed
lingerie buyer who becomes a bounty hunter to make ends meet. Reese Witherspoon was previously attached to take on the
role, but the project had been dormant for several years.
However, Katherine's interest has revived the production and put
it back on the fast track.
The original screenplay written by
Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith will be reworked by Liz
Brixius and Andrea Giannetti will oversee the production for
the studio. Lakeshore's Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi will
produce
"One for the Money" with Wendy Finerman ("The Devil Wears
Prada"). A director has not yet been announced.
