Despite this year's somewhat deflated Oscars ceremony,
everyone from style pundits to internet bloggers was in complete
agreement that actress Katherine Heigl was the belle of the
ball.
Dressed in a stunning blood-red Escada number, hair teased into
Monroe-style curls, Heigl oozed old-fashioned Hollywood glamour
on a grey Oscars night that was desperately in need of a touch
of colour.
But then Heigl should be getting used to generating a buzz
around her. Having made her name in the hugely popular medical
drama Grey's Anatomy as the lovelorn Dr Izzie Stevens, and then
followed it up with last year's surprise summer hit movie,
Knocked Up, she is strongly being touted by the industry as The
Next Julia Roberts - a prediction which predictably makes her
blanch.
"To be honest, it's too much pressure to believe that I could
ever fill her shoes," she says, "and I can't help but feel that
it's a little insulting to her to have that said about her".
"In any case, I think Julia Roberts herself has the whole Julia
Roberts thing well under control."
Ever since The Real Julia Roberts ditched romantic comedies to
take on meatier roles, the quest has been on to find her
replacement and, with Heigl's latest film, many critics think
they have found her......
