On Saturday, February 4th, 2006,
The National
Kidney Foundation of Utah and Idaho and members of Utah’s Donate
Life Coalition hosted a black tie gala to recognize outstanding
efforts to promote the cause of organ donation and
transplantation. Katherine and her mother Nancy, were
honored with a special Volunteer for Life Award.
Katherine was unable to attend due to filming commitments but
recorded her acceptance speech on video from the set of Grey's
Anatomy (dressed in the blue scrubs of her character Dr. Isobel
"Izzie" Stevens). Katherine's mother Nancy, also a recipient of
the award, was in attendance and is seen below with Robert and
Jamie Redford. The latter was presented with the Gift of Life
Award at the event.
