The one midseason show ABC had not previously scheduled has found a home, and it's a pretty nice one.

The network has slotted the medical drama "Grey's Anatomy" for a four-week tryout at 10 p.m. ET Sundays starting March 27 -- following "Desperate Housewives," the top-rated show on the network. The female-centric "Grey's" could scarcely ask for a stronger lead-in.

"Boston Legal," which was scheduled to be in reruns at that time, will take a break to accommodate "Grey's Anatomy." ABC says it will return to the schedule on Sunday, April 24.

"Grey's Anatomy" stars Ellen Pompeo ("Old School," "Catch Me If You Can") as Meredith Grey, the daughter of a famous surgeon who's now trying to forge her own medical career as a first-year surgical resident in Seattle. The cast also features "Sideways" star Sandra Oh as a competitive colleague, Katherine Heigl ("Roswell"), Patrick Dempsey ("Sweet Home Alabama") and Isaiah Washington ("Hollywood Homicide," "Out of Sight").

Although "Desperate Housewives," which draws more than 23 million viewers per week, will proved "Grey's" with a massive lead-in, the 10 p.m. timeslot might also come with expectations of success. "Boston Legal" is averaging about 12.6 million viewers this season, and Stephen McPherson, president of ABC Entertainment, has said that he wants to use the post-"Housewives" spot as a "launching pad" for shows.
