27 Dresses has already grossed over $150 million at the box
office and the huge success of Katherine's romantic comedy has
now been
translated to the home video market. The movie which was
released on DVD and Blu-ray formats on April 29th topped both
the US national DVD sales and rental charts in its first week in
stores.

The movie comfortably beat the other major new release
of the week "The Golden Compass" starring Nicole Kidman into
second spot. According to Nielsen VideoScan First Alert data,
"Compass," which bowed at No. 2, only sold 71% as many copies as
"27 Dresses".
In the rental market, Home Media Magazine's chart for the
week ending May 4, showed "27 Dresses" on top spot with
estimated rental revenue of $7.4 million, while "Compass" bowed
at No. 2 with rental earnings of $6.5 million.
