Katherine and Nancy visited
the
Villalobos Rescue Center (VRC) in Canyon Country, California
on Sunday November 9th, 2008. The center is a rescue, rehabilitation
and placement facility for abused and abandoned Pit Bulls and is
home to around 200 animals. The Heigl's are very passionate
about animal welfare and as avid dog lovers lend their support
to a number of rescue centers and sanctuaries.
During
their tour of the facility, which is the largest Pit Bull rescue
center in the United States, Katie and her mom got the
chance to meet many of the animals that are cared for on the 10
acre site. The
sanctuary is also home to wolves, bears, panthers
and a tiger. |

The
VRC works ceaselessly to give Pit Bulls another
chance in life. Each and every dog taken in, gets spayed
or neutered and is given any medical treatment
necessary. The organisation then works patiently with
animals to reacclimatize fearful dogs to the loving care
of a human, so that they may eventually be adopted.
Katherine and Nancy
are committed to raising awareness and support for the
plight of these animals and if you would like to find
out more information on how you can help, please visit
the
Villalobos Rescue Center website. |
