Because of their physical resemblance to Hollywood actresses, six
women are employed by a 1937 Hollywood studio as stand-ins for those
stars, taking their places for routine and mundane tasks such as
checking lighting and camera angles. One evening, the six women
gather at a local bar to celebrate the birthday of a seventh member
of their little stand-in club. The stand-ins have to confront their
own mixed feelings about their profession, as well as their own
career's mortality when the death of a major star occurs.
