Max In The City

Back in New York, Lonnie and Rath escort Max and Tess to the summit. Lonnie takes Max aside and tells him she’s proud of him, that he’s the brother she never knew. Then she hugs him. In the room where the summit is to take place, Max is stunned to see Brody, who is an emissary’s vessel, and is even more shocked to see Nicholas, who is Khivar’s representative. Nicholas says Khivar’s proposition is that he stay in power, but have possession of the Granolith, which Max then admits he has, to Lonnie’s surprise. Nicholas continues that Max is to tell his followers to lay down their weapons and support Khivar. Max says he has to think about it, and is given twenty minutes.

Meanwhile, Lonnie confronts Nicholas, pushing him up against a wall, and tells him she remembers what it was like to be Vilandra, and wants to go back to that life. She tells him that she believes Max will go for the deal because it will save millions of lives. Nicholas states pointedly that "Khivar wants Max dead," and Lonnie replies that she’s figured that out already. She admits she’s also willing to betray Rath, and as she saunters away, Nicholas states the obvious: "What a woman."

In Roswell, Isabel is worried about Max’s safety. She has tried to dreamwalk into Max’s thoughts to let him know about the assassination plot, but he’s too far away, and she fails. Ava tells them that Liz can do it; because Max brought her back from the dead, she can connect with him. Liz is afraid, so Isabel takes her hand and talks her through it.

In New York, Lonnie confronts Max and tells him she doesn’t like that he lied to her about the Granolith. She again reminds him to make the right decision, but once he’s in the meeting again, Max remembers Liz’s warning about giving up the Granolith, and says no to Khivar’s deal. It is quickly obvious that he’s now made enemies of them all.

Out on the street, Rath makes his anger known to Max, but Lonnie says they’ll find another way home. As the four of them walk along, Lonnie and Rath make sure that Max walks directly under a window-washing platform, which then begins to fall just as Lonnie and Rath had planned. But a vision of Liz suddenly appears across the street, warning Max away from the spot. Max moves, and the platform crashes to the pavement in the exact spot where he had been standing. When he looks up dazedly, everyone is gone.

When he finally locates Tess back in the underground tunnel, she says she wants to go home to Roswell. Back in the Evans’ kitchen, Max discusses what happened at the summit with Isabel. He then tells her he loves her, and they hug.
