When a freak heat wave hits Roswell in the middle of December, the effect is that the majority of the residents seem to be pairing up, Michael and Maria in particular. Isabel and Liz are enjoying the weather by sitting outside and painting their toenails – Isabel has the power to change the color of the nail polish – when Isabel asks Liz if she thinks Alex will tell anyone what he knows. When Liz says she doesn’t know, Isabel vows to find out just what Alex is thinking.

That night, she enters Alex’s dream, and is shocked to discover that she is at the center of his fantasies. In his dream state, Alex and Isabel dance, while he tells her that he sees the real Isabel. He adds that, while most guys see only her beautiful exterior, he sees that she’s even more beautiful underneath. Just before they kiss, Isabel forces herself to leave the dream, now overwhelmed with her discovery. The next day, when Max questions what she saw in Alex’s dream, Isabel blushes furiously, but won’t tell him what she saw. Instead, she assures him that she has everything under control, and she now knows that she is the one who can handle Alex. She seeks him out at school and flirts outrageously with him, unbuttoning his collar and inviting him to go to a rave at the old soap factory. When Alex shows up at the rave, he finds Isabel waiting for him, but when they’re alone, he also finds that Isabel is trying to discover whether or not he’ll tattle on them. Angry and disappointed, he leaves her, just before Valenti and his men come to raid the party.

When partygoers get rid of incriminating bottles of alcohol by putting them in the hands of Alex and Liz, Valenti arrests the two. Outside the jail, Isabel tells Max that she thinks they should have told Alex the truth, that she believes he can be trusted, while inside, in locked cells, Liz finally tells Alex the aliens’ secret. Alex pretends he wants to tell Valenti the truth, but instead demands that he and Liz be set free. Valenti gives up and releases them, and Max shows up on Liz’s balcony, where they share their first kiss.
