| Dream sequence: Isabel
says aloud that shes finally able to let someone in, to which Alex replies that
hes glad to hear it. They kiss against a night sky, but suddenly the sky is blue and
Isabel is alone in the desert, dressed in a strapless navy gown. Michael appears behind
her, and she is standing amid strange symbols
but her dream is interrupted by Alex,
who awakens her. They are on a stakeout of Tesss house. Now aware that Tess is
another alien, they are watching and following her, assisted by the other four. Michael
believes she is the alien they have been looking for, but Isabel is convinced that Tess
cant be on their side. She admits that she feels drawn to Tess, but cant
explain why. Alex offers to get close to Tess to find out more about her, but Isabel tells
him not to, since they dont know what theyre dealing with. Alex once again
states that they need to do something, and places his hand on Isabels shoulder.
Isabel looks up at Michael, and gets a vision of Michael in the desert of her dream. Ed Harding has discovered the miniature camera that Liz
planted in his house, and he takes it to Valenti, who promises to get to the bottom of the
crime.
Under vague pretenses, Isabel manages to get into
the school records office, commandeer the school computer, and print out Tesss class
schedule, while Tess secretly watches her. When Isabel arrives back at her house, Tess is
there with Mrs. Evans, looking at photo albums of Isabel and Max as children. When Mrs.
Evans leaves to go to the market, Tess lets Isabel know that she feels a connection with
Max, and asks Isabel if she hasnt ever felt that connection with someone else as
well? Isabel gets a flash of Michael in the desert again, and Tess leans in very closely
and whispers that there are signs all around her. Isabel is shocked to see sugar cubes on
the counter in the square formation of the symbols she saw in her desert dream.
Later, Isabel and Max discuss their feelings about
Tess, and after Isabel falls asleep, she has yet another dream about Michael and the
desert. In this one, they are embracing, and Isabel wakes up with a gasp to find Michael
in her room, similarly disturbed. They assure each other it was only a dream. They then
discuss the dream with Max (but neglect to tell him about their implied dream lovemaking).
They also finally admit to him that they had tried to summon Nasedo by using a map of the
V constellation and setting the library lawn afire in the shape of the alien symbol. Max
is furious, reiterating that the goal is to stay in control.
Back at school, Michael tells Maria that he wants to
"move to the next level" at the same time that Isabel is claiming the same thing
to Alex. When Michael and Maria open the eraser room door to be alone, they discover
Isabel and Alex already in there, passionately kissing. After Alex drops Isabel back at
her house, she goes to sleep and once again dreams
this time, she and Michael are
actually in the throes of making love in the desert. Flash to a cell developing, then a
fetus, and Isabel wakes up, confused and upset.
In the library at school, Max and Liz see Tess
flirting with Kyle. Max follows them and sees Kyle boost Tess up so she can reach a top
shelf, and then watches as she extracts a strange book seemingly out of a third dimension
in the wall. Cut to Isabel, once again dreaming; this time, she and Michael have a child
with them, and they are laughing together and cuddling the child. She wakes up with a
start as Michael enters her room again. They discuss how they believe that the dream means
Isabel is now pregnant with Michaels child.
After Max has a dream of his own about Tess, he
wakes to find her in his bedroom. She persuades him to come with her to the crash site in
the desert, telling him that theyve been there before. Max becomes angry and violent
with Tess, accusing her of being Nasedo, an evil shape-shifter. Tess implores him to
think, shows him her book, and tells him that he already knows her face
and he
suddenly remembers all of them in their pods in the cave. He also recalls leaving Tess
behind, and when Isabel and Michael appear, and Michael demands to know who Tess is, Max
firmly states "Shes one of us."
