Disturbing Behaviour

Meanwhile, Michael and Maria continue on their road trip, with Laurie giving them nothing but a hard time. Finally, Michael talks to Laurie about their possible family ties, and Laurie gives in and tells him that her grandfather, whose picture looked exactly like Michael, lives in Tucson, Arizona. They all head off in the Jetta to find him.

Back at the Evans’ house, Max is sleeping at his desk with the blue crystals nearby, when the crystals suddenly morph into a liquidy blob which then crawls over to cover Max’s hand. Max wakes up, frantically pushes it off his hand, and traps it in a glass container.

Max enlists Liz’s help with the blue alien crystals, and Liz decides the cells resemble waterborne bacteria. Liz then has Isabel contact Grant Sorenson to ask him to meet her at the Crashdown. At first, Sorenson is suspicious, thinking that Isabel only wants to see him because of the lawsuit that he is bringing against Valenti, but Isabel assures him that she just wants to apologize for all that has happened. She asks if they can start over, then introduces herself to him, asks him what he does for a living, asks what he’s working on right now, etc. Grant is completely charmed, and smiling, responds to her questions without hesitation.

Michael, Maria, and Laurie arrive at Laurie’s grandfather’s elaborate house in Tucson, where they encounter Laurie’s snobbish aunt and uncle, who stare at Michael in amazement. When Laurie asks to see her grandfather, they remind her haughtily that her grandfather has been dead for seven years, then send her upstairs for a bath, making fun fear of aliens being out to get her. The relatives escort Michael off the property, giving him $50,000 to ensure that he will not make any inheritance claim.

Isabel, Max and Liz walk through the UFO Center as Isabel explains to them what happened during her meeting with Grant. She tells them that Grant’s work in Frazier Woods seems to have a common thread – the water table. They look at maps of the area, and notice that Frazier’s Woods is right next to Pohlman Ranch, site of the 1947 crash. Liz thinks that because the alien bacteria appear to be waterborne, perhaps it may have gotten into the water table and wonders if the bacteria is dangerous to humans. Brody appears briefly, and after he leaves, Isabel remembers that an alien at the summit possessed Brody’s body. She suggests trying to reverse the process in order to send a message back. Though Brody claims he’s been put under hypnosis before, and he’s not a good subject, Isabel assures him that she has psychic powers. She touches his hand, and both she and Brody are hurled violently back into the wall. Brody suddenly begins to talk, but it’s obviously not really Brody speaking. NotBrody tells them they shouldn’t have done that; that Brody’s body has not been prepared for communication and his heart has stopped. Max asks about the blue bacteria, and the entity in Brody answers, "Do you mean the Gandarium from your ship have escaped into the ecosystem? Earth is in serious trouble. You must leave now. Earth has become infected. You are no longer safe there. Get off the planet now." With that, the entity leaves Brody’s body, Brody collapses and appears to be dead. Max is about to heal him with his powers, but Isabel stops him. Max performs chest compressions of CPR on Brody instead, and finally, Brody stirs. Holding his chest, he asks Max and Isabel what happened, but Max will say only that he fainted. The words "to be continued" materialize on the screen.
