For possibly the last time, Maria provides commentary at the blackboard, drawing two circles on the board to illustrate that Max and Tess are now an item – something about which she is clearly unhappy. Suddenly, Michael appears to cut in on the action, as he stands in front of a brick wall and says, "Let me tell you what's really going on." He tells us that Tess is pregnant, Max is the father, and the baby can’t survive on earth, so they have to find a way home. He then adds, "Which, fortunately, I think I did."

Inside the Granolith chamber, Isabel, Michael and Tess have gathered to listen to Max explain what he’s learned from the translated alien book. He holds up a crystal cylinder and says, "This is a key. When we insert it, the Granolith will transport us home." It will take 24 hours to prepare, and when it’s ready, he says, they have to be on board or they won’t go. The Granolith is capable of one mission, and when it’s used, it’s gone, and then there’s no way home. Max asks if everyone is ready, but a visibly upset Isabel whispers, "This is happening too fast." Michael is worried about Leanna, and what she’ll do to the humans left behind. But Tess clutches her abdomen and says, "Max," so Max takes the crystal and pushes it into the side of the Granolith until it disappears within. As lights begin to strobe and the alien symbol appears on the ceiling, Max says, "Everyone say your goodbyes."

Out on the patio of the Crashdown, Kyle, Maria, Sean, and Liz sit at a table as Maria mocks Sean’s earring. Kyle, fingers tapping relentlessly on the table, asks if it isn’t, like, a gay thing, causing Sean to comment that he has to get out of this town. Maria tells Kyle to quit the tapping, as Max and Michael head toward the table. Calling them "Hekyll and Jekyll," Kyle takes off before he’s forced to talk to them, with Sean close on his heels. Max asks if he can see Liz upstairs, and Michael tells Maria he needs to see her that night.

In Liz’s room, Max tells Liz that she was right – Alex was killed by an alien. He was hoping that wasn’t the case, but they are responsible. Liz, conveniently forgetting that she once yelled "YOU. ARE. RESPONSIBLE!" at Max, now claims she never blamed him. Max says he needs to know everything about Leanna because he’s going to take care of her. Liz insists she has to come along, because "SHE. KILLED. ALEX!"

Isabel is sitting having Chinese takeout food with her parents at the Evans kitchen table, her heart obviously breaking as they prattle away about digital cable, naked shows on cable tv, and Chinese mustard. Isabel hesitantly says, "Mom…Dad…", but then thinks better of it, and offers to get the Chinese mustard for her dad. At the refrigerator, Isabel cries quietly, hiding her tears from her oblivious parents.
