Once more – Maria sitting on the desk, telling us yet again about Alex and the accident, and Liz’s conviction that Alex was murdered by an alien. Maria doubts the kiss between Tess and Max went any further. BZZZT!! Wrong, Maria. You ARE the weakest link, goodbye!

Max and Tess lie together, obviously unclothed, obviously the morning after. After some general snuggling and nuzzling (which shows he’s not human; a human male would have been out the door before she even woke up) he takes her home, where he kisses her inside the door, while an adorable Kyle peeks out and watches from under his blanket on the couch. The sheriff appears and, annoyed with Tess for being out all night, tells her to go to her room, and Max to go home. In her room, Tess is stunned to realize she’s pregnant with Max’s child. Already.

Isabel is stretching, glass of water in hand, in preparation for her morning run, when Max walks in, and makes a rather desperate attempt to speak to her. He begins with some pathetic small talk about her running, mentioning she must probably be up to five or six miles by now. Isabel continues to stretch, totally ignoring him. "Look," Max says, "I know you’re still mad and everything, but I really need to talk to someone." Without so much as a glance at him, Isabel picks up a chair, turns it around, and straddles it, finally giving him her undivided, if resentful, attention. Max nervously explains that he and Tess have been getting close, and that the night before – and he actually says this with a straight face – "something came up" between them. No dummy, Isabel immediately guesses, "You slept with her?" At Max’s affirmation, she snaps, "Wow. Congratulations, Max. You lost your virginity," and applauds sarcastically. She angrily asks him if he wants sympathy or comfort before he goes off to bathe the dried sweat from his body, or did they do it in the shower? Max begins to stalk off, but Isabel calls after him: "His Majesty will now retire to his room." Now it’s Max’s turn to be annoyed – he says he and Tess didn’t plan for this to happen, and he was just hoping…but Isabel cuts him off. "You were wrong. I don’t care about your morning-after anxieties or about your delicate feelings. Because my feelings sure as hell don’t matter to you." She gets up and storms off, blonde ponytail swinging.

The next day, Tess waits for Max. There is awkwardness, with Max seemingly uncomfortable with the idea of he and Tess being a couple. Nevertheless, he takes her hand, and they walk down the hall together, as Isabel, Kyle, and Michael look on somberly.
