Katherine
Heigl |
|
| Part ingenue, part leading
lady, Katherine Heigl has already proven herself to be an actor of uncommon talent and
beauty. Only 19 years old, her career is definitely on the fast track, with eight feature
films to her credit, including her memorable star turn in the delightful comedy My
Father The Hero, opposite Gérard Dépardieu. Katherine co-stars this fall in
Universal Pictures The Bride Of Chucky, which is due for release October 16,
1998. In this fourth instalment of the "Childs Play" series, newlywed
dolls Chucky and Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly) hitch a ride to Los Angeles with a teenage
couple (Katherine and Nick Stabile), with the possessed dolls scheming to exchange bodies
with their road trip hosts.
In a decidedly different turn, Katherine stars opposite Peter Fonda in the upcoming
original telefilm, "Shakespeares The Tempest," for NBC. Set in the
Mississippi bayou during the Civil War, this inventive retelling of the classic tale
features romance, betrayal and mysticism. Katherine plays the pivotal role of 16 year-old
Miranda, who finds herself trapped between her loyalty to her father
Prosper (Fonda) and her love for a young Union soldier.
"Shakespeares The Tempest," is scheduled to air on Sunday, November 22,
1998, 9:00 11:00pm. |

| Raised in Connecticut,
Katherine got her first taste of the camera lens at the age of nine as a child model. It
wasnt long before she graduated to commercial work, which opened the door to
auditions for film roles. By the time she was 12, she made her feature debut in That
Night, starring Juliette Lewis and C. Thomas Howell. Though not yet in her teens,
the young actress had found her path in life. "I just loved it," she recalls.
"My first film was an amazing experience, and I knew thats what I wanted to
do." She didnt have long to wait before her resolve was rewarded with a
co-starring role in director Steven Soderberghs critically lauded Depression-era
drama King Of The Hill. |
