In North Of Hell, Katherine plays Mona Champagne, a character described as dark and obsessive, who controls every aspect of her husband Don's (Patrick Wilson) life. However, the atmosphere on set was anything but dark, with cast and crew posting frequently on Twitter about how much they were enjoying the shoot.

But all good things must come to an end. Katherine said on Monday, "Mom and I enjoying our last night of getting to take our cocktails to go!", ahead of a flight back home to her home in Utah the following day.

North Of Hell is scheduled to hit theaters in 2014.

The two leads are supported by a cast that includes James Belushi, Jordana Brewster, AJ Buckley, Heath Freeman and Katherine's former Grey's Anatomy co-star Kevin McKidd. However, the alumni agreed that fans of the TV show should not expect the scenes they share in the movie to be anything like their previous work on the ABC medical drama.

Belushi has also taken to social media, using Twitter's new video clip application Vine to post snippets from behind the scenes, including this clip of McKidd talking to Katherine and Jordana Brewster about losing his eyebrows!

Away from the set, family is very important to Katherine. Her husband and two daughters are with her in New Orleans for the duration of the shoot, and in a feature for the current issue of the UK's Look Magazine (May 27th), she spoke about life at home in rural Utah. "Our house is in the mountains, where I can enjoy being a mother and wife. Our dogs love roaming - every time I try to leave they bark and jump on me! I'm happy organizing barbecues with neighbours and drinking homemade beer. It's not glamorous, but it's good."

A J Buckley, Jordana Brewster and James Belushi also co-star in the picture, which is directed by Anthony Burns and based on a story by Carlo Allen. Katherine joined cast and crew in sharing photos and news from the set, as production got under way on May 6th.

Arriving in New Orleans a few days before the start of filming, she also had time to sample the local culture - including some of the music and cuisine that makes the city famous.

The Big Wedding was filmed in Connecticut, Katherine explained to Made In Hollywood, adding the cast had such a great rapport that after shooting had ended for the day they would all hang out at her house.

Set in the fictional town of Oakton in the 1950's, the story is based on the adventures of Surly, a mischievous squirrel, and his rat friend Buddy, who plan a nut-store heist of outrageous proportions and unwittingly find themselves embroiled in a complicated adventure. Katherine will voice Andie, the Nut Job's lovely lady squirrel.

The feature is based on director and co-writer Peter Lepeniotis’ award winning 2005 short "Surly Squirrel" and is a collaboration between Canadian animation studio ToonBox Entertainment, Redrover Co. and Gulfstream Pictures. Graham Moloy and WK Jung produced the animation alongside Mike Karz, Bill Bindley, Jay Ahn, Daniel Woo, Hong Kim and Tom Yoon serving as executive producers. Ths screenplay was written by Lorne Cameron.
