Golden Heart Luncheon Raises Over $500,000
Katherine Heigl and husband Josh Kelley were special guests at the Golden Heart Luncheon on January 18th, where they helped to raised a record $521,000 for Jack and Barbara Nicklaus's Children’s Health Care Foundation.
The charity luncheon, held in Palm Beach Garderns, FL at The Country Club At Mirasol, celebrated the progress being made by supporting innovative programs focused on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of childhood illnesses.
Heigl and Kelley are the parents of three children, one of whom, Naleigh, had a heart condition at birth. Grateful for the care that saved their daughter’s life, the couple advocate for world-class, pediatric care and adoption around the globe.
Speaking at the event about their eldest daughter, Katherine said "This child made me a mother, made my husband a father, made us both a more profoundly better version of ourselves than anything else ever could,". Josh also performed at the event, sharing a song he had written for his youngest daughter Adalaide with the crowd.
The Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation has raised $90 million since its inception in 2004 and the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital is the main beneficiary. "e;We’ve seen patients from every state in the union and 117 countries so we feel we are earning the name global," said Barbara Nicklaus.
The foundation began when their 11-year-old daughter got sick many years ago – she's now married with 5 children. "We said if we are ever in a position to help anyone, we wanted it to be children," said Nicklaus.
