Katherine Heigl & The Cast Of State Of Affairs At The BBBSLA Big Bash

The charity benefit honored William H. Ahmanson, President, The Ahmanson Foundation, with the Walt Disney Man of the Year Award; Jennifer Salke, President of NBC Entertainment, with the Sherry Lansing Award; and The Hollywood Reporter with the Trailblazer Award. Proceeds from the event will support BBBSLA's mission to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better.

The event proved inspirational to Katherine, who volunteered to mentor a teenage girl after hearing her speak passionately to the audience. Standing and raising her hand in offer, she walked on stage to introduce herself to the mentee. The young woman had talked of her desire to learn five languages (she speaks three and is learning Arabic and Chinese), become the future head the CIA and one day donate 'thousands and thousands' to the the BBBSLA program. "That girl was pretty phenomenal, wasn’t she?" said Heigl to the Los Angeles Times after the event. "She was so incredibly funny and charming, and I’m now doing a show about the CIA, so I just thought I have to mentor her."
