NBC confirmed the pilot order for Katherine's new CIA drama at the Television Critics Association panels in Pasadena on Sunday. The project, now titled "State Of Affairs", was originally announced in September when the station won broadcast rights for the show following a bidding war.

NBC Order Katherine Heigl's State Of Affairs

The TV series would be executive produced by Joe Carnahan ("The Blacklist") as well as Nancy and Katherine Heigl under their Abishag banner.

"We got them on the phone and they had this love fest and signed off," NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke said regarding the pairing with Carnahan. "So now we have them together and I think he is a great combination with her."

Salke also explained that the pilot is currently "in the middle of a rewrite" and that Katherine "plays a woman who is kind of the right hand attached/liaison to the President and his secret weapon in dealing with hot spot issues. So it has a little bit of the 'West Wing,' but it also has a little bit of the intrigue and action, with big high stakes stories week to week."
