Katherine channels her inner Jersey girl to play Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum in One For The Money, and speaking with Entertainment Tonight on Tuesday, she told Nancy O'Dell that having to take on the distinctive accent for the film may have been karmic retribution.

"That was really intimidating because I'm that jerk who sits in the audience and makes fun of people's bad accents," said Katherine laughing. "And I thought, 'Oh, this is karmic, because now everyone's going to make fun of my bad accent,' so I tried to take it very seriously and we had a great dialect coach who was very helpful."

The stars of the movie also spoke with E! Online, with Sherri Shepherd (Lula), Daniel Sunjata (Ranger) and Jason O'Mara (Morelli) joining Katherine to discuss the picture.

Describing how important her character Stephanie Plum's look was to the movie, Katherine explained that getting her hair right was a key factor, as having read the books she was adamant that the movie be authentic and loyal to story. She also joked about her shower scene in the film, with Jason O'Mara explaining that the location of the bathroom was not quite as it appears on camera.

One For the Money is released in theaters domestically on January 27.
