39th Annual American Music Awards
The 39th Annual American Music Awards took place yesterday at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. Katherine Heigl and her husband Josh Kelley took to the stage together at the 2011 event to present the award for Favorite Country Album to Taylor Swift.
The couple also posed for photographs at the press room red carpet and shot some fun portraits backstage. Katherine wore a Roberto Cavalli dress and Jimmy Choo shoes, accessorized with a Judith Leiber clutch and Sutra earrings.
Backstage, Katie and Josh chatted with Access Hollywood correspondent Tim Vincent about presenting the award and explained how they make their marriage work.
"It’s not easy, but it is ideal if we both have our own thing, our own passions, our own focus on our careers. We can kind of come back to each other and there’s this fire there," Katherine explained. "We’re happy because we have these great careers that we’re happy with. That happiness is infectious – it sort of bleeds into everything," she continued.
"Because you’re in the same business, you understand. Even though my business is different, being in music and her being an actress, you understand what kind of day she’s been through, if it’s grueling," Josh added. "You have things to talk about."
"So JK and I had the great pleasure of presenting miss Taylor Swift with her AMA award tonight! Too much fun for words!!" Katherine posted on her Twitter and Facebook pages after returning home from the event.
She explained that the couple had a crazy but wonderful day, having thrown a birthday party for daughter Naleigh (who turns 3 years old on Wednesday) earlier in the day, before changing and heading over to the awards presentation.
