On September 23rd, Katherine Heigl and the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation board launched the Compassion Revolution. She introduced the major companion pet initiative at a press conference held at the Four Seasons Hotel, with the support of the Found Animals Foundation and the Millan Foundation, represented by Cesar Millan.

ABC7 were one of the many media outlets covering the announcement, helping to publicize the mission of the Compassion Revolution:

A mission to unite diverse groups and individuals under one alliance to initiate programs that directly address the pet overpopulation crisis in the Los Angeles and to set a precedent for similar programs across the country.

To kick off the Compassion Revolution, the Heigl Foundation announced a $1 million pledge for spay/neuter and supporting programs in the City and County of Los Angeles and neighboring communities.
