During the press junket for "Life As We Know It" on Saturday, Katherine and her co-star Josh Duhamel were asked to recall any disastrous dates in their personal lives. In the new movie their characters endure a nightmare date and in real life both stars had their own stories of failed romance to tell.
Katherine revealed that her worst date occurred when she was 18 years old, with a personal trainer. "I was like, 20 lbs. heavier and trying real hard to work it off at the gym and my trainer asked me out. He took me to Sizzler and gave me his head shot and asked me if I could get him in my agency. I knew it wasn't the extra 20 lbs. that turned him on!"
To make things worse - the trainer shaved his legs – though that wasn't a deal breaker compared to being used for her agency contacts, she explained.
Heigl then turned reporter, quizzing her friend and co-star about his dating disasters.
"I've had plenty of awkward moments, but I've always been in relationships for a long time," said Duhamel. "Dating always scared the crap out of me. For that reason I couldn't really date. I had to make very sure that I wanted to date this person. I would do a complete recon. So, I made sure that I wanted to be with them before I actually started dating," he added.
"That's so interesting and weird," Katherine interjected laughing.
"You know, when you really feel it, you just don't want to say, 'Well, I might like her, or I guess I'll date her.' " the Transformers star explained.
"So, you've never met anybody at a bar and went out on a dinner date the next night and had a terrible time? That never happened to you?" she quizzed.
"Well," he said, "I'm sure it did."
